Terms of Use

Last updated 27 August 2026

Self Label is a workspace for independent music: it helps people run releases, coordinate collaborators and arrange sessions. These terms describe what you can expect from it, and what it expects from you.

Using Self Label

You need an account, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has them.

Much of Self Label is shared work. A Program, a release or a session involves other people, and what you put into one is visible to the people you are working with. The privacy notice describes exactly where that happens.

What the assistant does, and does not do

Self Label’s assistant proposes; it does not act on its own. Anything that changes a record, contacts somebody, books time or grants access is shown to you as an exact proposal first, and happens only when you approve it. Reading is not approval, and advice is not an instruction to the product.

The assistant can be wrong. It reads from your workspace and says what it finds, and where it cannot determine something it is built to say so rather than guess. Treat what it tells you as information to check, not as professional advice — it is not a lawyer, an accountant or an agent, and nothing it says is any of those.

Decisions about your work remain yours. Approving a proposal means you have read it.

Connected services

You may connect Google Calendar and WhatsApp. Each connection is separate, each is optional, and each can be disconnected at any time from inside Self Label.

Letting Self Label see whether you are busy is a different permission from letting it add confirmed sessions to your calendar, and the second is asked for separately. Disconnecting stops future reads and writes. A copy of a session already written to your calendar stays there for you to remove, because it is yours.

Those services have their own terms with you, and Self Label does not change them.

Contacting other people

Self Label sends messages to people about work they are part of — a session being proposed, a time changing, a confirmation. It does this within the permissions a Program has been given and the contact choices each person has made for themselves.

Do not use Self Label to contact people who have not agreed to hear from you, or to send anything unlawful, harassing or deceptive. Invitations are for people you are actually working with.

Your content

What you upload and write stays yours. You give Self Label permission to store, process and show it to the people you are working with, so that the product can do what you are asking it to do. That permission exists to run the service and for no other purpose.

You are responsible for having the rights to what you upload — recordings, artwork, text and anything else — and for what you do with what other people share with you.

Acceptable use

  • Do not upload anything you do not have the rights to.
  • Do not use Self Label to harass, deceive or impersonate anybody.
  • Do not try to reach other people’s workspaces, accounts or data.
  • Do not attempt to break, overload or work around the product’s security.
  • Do not use it for anything unlawful where you are.

Availability

Self Label is under active development. Features change, and parts of it may be unavailable while that happens. It is provided as it is, without a promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.

Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. Self Label is a place to coordinate work; it is not a backup service.

Ending it

You can stop using Self Label at any time and close your account from inside the product. We may suspend or end access where these terms are broken, or where doing so is necessary to protect other people using it.

Some records outlive an account because they are shared. A session other people attended, or a plan a Program agreed, remains part of that Program’s record. The privacy notice describes what happens to personal information.

Changes to these terms

These terms will change as the product does. The date at the top shows when they were last updated, and material changes will be communicated in the product.

Contact

If you have a question about these terms, contact us through Self Label — signed-in members can raise it with the assistant or through their workspace, and we will respond.

Privacy is covered separately, in the privacy notice.
